USAV Junior Beach Volleyball

Sand volleyball is now a collegiate sport recognized by NCAA Division I and II schools. It's increasing in popularity every year at the junior level and we're excited to offer it as an extension of NWI Premier Volleyball.  Playing sand volleyball is a great way to improve your volleyball skills by learning how to read, increase your defensive range, and learn to attack.

If you're looking to become a complete, all around volleyball athlete it is suggested by accredited Olympic coaches and elite NCAA coaches to play beach volleyball. Unlike indoor, beach focuses players to touch the ball every possession and therefore get to work on some of those skills that aren't as strong as others. You also learn how to read and anticipate the ball better with sand evolving into better ball control.

It takes a lot of hard work and dedication just like any other sport. Especially for beach volleyball you don't have to be tall or as fast as other sports. You just have to have the skills.

We will be participating in the USA Volleyball Iowa Region and in accordance to their age requirements all teams of two must meet the ages specified below:

  • 18U Players born on or after July 1, 2005

  • 16U Players born on or after July 1, 2007

  • 14U Players born on or after July 1, 2009

  • 12U Players born on or after July 1, 2011

Our NWI Beach program will run May 22 - July 12 with 12 total practices. Practices will be one hour per week and then 2-one hour practices the following week. Functioning as practices every other week. Practices will take place in the mornings at our facility in Holstein. We will have our team meeting on Sunday, May 12 with practices starting in the late afternoon that week. Morning practices will start the following week.

Teams will be competing at two tournaments of their choosing. There are plenty of tournaments to choose from in Des Moines (including USA Regional Qualifier)  and Omaha.  We'll work with each team's schedules to decide which tournaments to participate in. Coaches are not required during tournaments so there will be no coach accompanying teams at the tournaments. It's suggested at least one of the team's parents comes along to tournaments. These tournaments are usually just one day and take place on either Saturday or Sunday.

Beach registration fees include two single day tournament registration fees, practice times and two NWI Uniforms.

To participate, you will also have to register as a USA Iowa Region Jr. Member. If players have participated in a USAV program for the 2023/2024 year, they should already be a registered member.

Our two on two USAV Club Beach Program is now full. If interested in participating in our June or July Beach Leagues head to our Products page for additional information.
